The city of Düsseldorf is so much more than a modern business hub. Discover the secrets buried in its historic centre and the beautiful buildings hidden in its ancient streets.
Explore the most iconic sights of Düsseldorf's old town: at the heart of the metropolis lie historic churches and buildings that managed to survive the bombings of World War II.
The tour will start right in the centre of Altstadt, or the Old Town, where you'll see the curious twisted spire of the Gothic Sankt Lambertus church. The Roman Catholic church dates back to the 14th century, and is home to relics of Apollinaris, the patron saint of Düsseldorf.
Pass by the equestrian statue of Jan Wellem in the Markplatz, where the Rathaus, or town hall, is also located. The sculpture is one of the city's most famous, and is dedicated to an extremely important figure in Düsseldorf's history.
You'll continue your tour through Burgplatz, one of the most charming areas of this German city. Admire the impressive Schlossturm tower, a 33 metre tall building on the banks of the Rhine that is the only remaining part of the city's old palace. From here, wander along the river promenade to enjoy stunning views of Düsseldorf.
If you get thirsty at any point on the tour - no problem. This area of the city is also known as the longest bar in the world, as it boasts as many as 300 bars, restaurants, cafes and pubs within a half square mile radius.
