Discover the summit of La Palma on this full-day bus tour to Roque de Los Muchachos and marvel at unparalleled views of the island from the top.
Roque de los Muchachos & Caldera de Taburiente Tour
After collecting you from one of the meeting points between 8:15 am and 10 am, we'll head to the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, located in the heart of the island, climbing up to 2,000 metres.
During the journey, we will enjoy incredible views of Santa Cruz de La Palma and we provide commentary on the native vegetation that surrounds us: including Canarian pines and the famous tajinaste plants, like hot pokers!
Admire the plant life surrounding the Caldera de Taburiente, one of the largest clefts in the world, as you drive along the trail. Continue the route by climbing up through the mountain peaks until you get to Roque de los Muchachos. Standing 2426 metres (7.959 ft)-above sea level, it is the highest peak of “La Isla Bonita” (The Pretty Island).
Enjoy the stunning views from several viewpoints located at the top and spot some of the other Canary Islands like El Hierro, La Gomera and Tenerife. Your expert English-speaking guide will also reveal interesting facts about the Roque de los Muchachos Astrophysics Observatory, which is home to one of the most powerful telescopes in the world. It was placed here because the top of the island boasts one of the clearest skies on the planet.
We will climb aboard the bus once more, and descend through the northwest of the island until we reach Puntagorda. Here, the tour visits its traditional market and continues the excursion towards the small town of Tijarafe, with an hour of free time so that you can eat.
The last stop of the day will be at the El Time viewpoint, offering a picture-postcard image of the Aridane valley. We will stretch our legs, and return to the bus to end the excursion, taking you back to the meet point.
