Volcano Route Guided Hike
The tour meets at 8:50 am on Tanausú Avenue begin our guided hike. Over the course of the route, we will travel a total of 17 kilometers, which amounts to about seven hours of walking.
First we'll visit the El Pilar refuge 1450 meters up. And from here we'll begin our route around the volcanoes of La Palma. We will skirt the Birigoyo mountain, an old volcanic cone surrounded by the local species of Canarian pine. This route allows us to enjoy incredible views of the Aridane valley and the towns of El Paso, Los Llanos and Tazacorte. Camera at the ready!
Then it's on through volcanic terrain, visiting the Tacande volcano and arriving at the Hoyo Negro crater. From here, if the weather is clear, we can see the other Canary Islands in the distance: El Hierro, La Gomera and Tenerife.
After a break here, the tour continues in search of the many craters of La Palma. Then we will begin our descent to Fuencaliente. This is where we'll find the Martín volcano, whose shape and colors make it one of the most unusual on the island.
The itinerary finally concludes in Los Canarios, where a bus will be waiting for us to take us back to El Paso, finishing the day back at the start point at approximately 6:30 pm.
