Enjoy a pleasant ride on horseback through the interior of Chiapas. You will discover the indigenous communities of San Cristóbal de las Casas and the beautiful municipality of San Juan Chamula.
Horse Riding in the Indigenous Communities
At the time you choose, we will meet up in the center of San Cristóbal de las Casas. We then ride in a vehicle to reach the outskirts of the farm where the stables are located. There, we will get on the horses and start a ride to discover the indigenous communities.
As we leave the city, we will encounter some mestizo neighborhoods that have their own customs. They are home to the Tzotzil, Tzeltal, and Chol ethnic groups. After riding for around an hour, we will arrive at San Juan Chamula.
This Mexican municipality is one of the few that still practices the Mayan culture. Upon arrival, you can leave the horses and enjoy an hour of free time to tour this town that uses the words jtotik and jmetil to refer to the sun and the moon.
If you want to discover more fascinating curiosities about this mystical place, you can head into the church to witness the eccentric customs up close. Once the free time is over, we will get back on the horses and set off for San Cristóbal de las Casas.
After a brilliant four-hour experience, we will finish the activity back at the original starting point.
