Get to know the history of the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo on this walking tour of Coyoacán. And you'll see the Centenary Garden and fall in love with the charm of the squares and streets of the neighbourhood.
Itinerary
The tour meets at 2 pm by the Fountain of the Coyotes, inside the Centenary Garden, paying homage to the first 100 years of independence in Mexico. Here we'll begin our tour with the picturesque streets and squares of the bohemian neighbourhood of Coyoacán. The colour and charm of its houses welcome you to one of the oldest areas of the city.
The route then continues, taking in the exterior of the church of St. John the Baptist, in a new-Hispanic baroque style, and one of the emblems of the city.
Then we'll take a look at the 'Casa Azul', famous as the home of Frida Kahlo and which these days is a museum dedicated to the artist (entry not included). If you want to visit the house, you can do so at your own leisure at the end of the tour. Inside you can find personal items and great works by the painter, revealing the intimate life of the most famous Latin American artist in the world.
And at the end of the tour if you're not tired and want to see more, you can take a look at Leon Trotsky's house, also found in the neighbourhood, and well known for being the place where the secret lover of Khalo was assassinated. The free tour will end at 4:30 pm.
